Course Description: SPAN 321 (Techniques of Translation) is a community-engaged learning course that introduces students to the principles of professional translation (Spanish-English; English-Spanish) through hands-on practice and targeted review of advanced Spanish grammar. Students will apply their translation skills and knowledge of specialized vocabulary to produce Spanish-language versions of health-related materials–including health literacy curricula, brochures on local health services, and a dental care application–in collaboration with two community partners: HELP Inc. and the Hampton and Peninsula Health Districts.
