Christopher Newport’s Center for Community Engagement and Student Government Association are excited to announce the kick-off of CNU’s 17th Annual Food for Thought Campaign! The 2024 campaign will run from Monday, October 7 through Friday, November 8, culminating with a weigh-in during the Food for Thought finale on Friday, November 8, from 11 am-2 pm in the Trible Plaza. Every year, our campus comes together to provide significant relief to the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula through a combined campus contribution of non-perishable food and/or monetary donations.
Due to inflation, rising food costs, and greater demand, Hampton Roads has seen up to a 37% increase in food insecurity. Now more than ever, our foodbanks need additional support. One in nine Virginians struggles with hunger across Hampton Roads.
Join us as we help support those in our local community. We are accepting canned and non-perishable items, as well as monetary donations. Your donation provides fresh produce, meat, and dairy, which cannot be donated. No donation is too big or too small! For every dollar donated, we can provide three healthy meals to our community.
